PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of connecting an existing trolley wire in operation and an extension wire safely, correctly and quickly without risk of electric shock. SOLUTION: The method of connecting an existing trolley wire in operation and an extension wire includes steps of stripping one end portion of the trolley wire insulation coated to prepare a connection end, enclosing the connection end by one end part of an insulating cover B, stripping one end portion of the extension wire insulation coated to prepare a corresponding connection end, enclosing the corresponding connection end by one half side of a metal connector A, and enclosing the connection end of the trolley wire by the other half side of the metal connector. The connecting apparatus comprises the metal connector A designed for enclosing the connection end of the trolley wire, and the insulating cover B for covering both connection end and corresponding connection end enclosed by the metal connector A. The metal connector A has a fixing screw for fixing itself to the connection ends while the insulating cover B has a tool insertion hole for screwing the fixing screw.
