PURPOSE: A method for detecting a channel access probe of a mobile communication system is provided to dually set up initial transmission power and a power step of a channel access probe in a CDMA reverse link, so as to enable selective use of a service provider. CONSTITUTION: The transmission power of an access probe to be transmitted in a terminal is set up as the first transmission power and the second transmission power. A predetermined power increase rate increased whenever transmitting the access probe is set up as the first power increase rate and the second power increase rate. The terminal sets up the transmission power of the access probe to be over the second transmission power strength, for transmission to a base station. Whether an acknowledgement for the access probe is received from the base station is confirmed. If the acknowledgement is not received, the second power increase rate is added to the second transmission power set up in the access probe, to re-transmit the access probe.
