PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overcurrent preventive device capable of confirming operation without need for visual inspection. SOLUTION: This device passes overcurrent through a PTC element 11 when the overcurrent passes through a main circuit, so that the PTC element 11 causes heat generation in a moment to provide high resistance, and the terminal voltage of the PTC element 11 approaches power supply voltage. The current regulated by the adjusting resistance 12 generates voltage between the terminals of a light emitting diode 5, and a light emitting diode 14 emits light. As a result of the light emitting diode 14 emitting light, a phototransistor 16 is turned on and an alarm circuit is closed to activate an alarm circuit, thus it is possible to inform an operator that the overcurrent has passed through the main circuit.
