PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize the efficiency elevation of a motor by reducing the eddy current loss without lowering magnet torque and reluctance torque, in a permanent magnet motor. SOLUTION: For a rotor 10 inside a stator 1 which generates a rotating magnetic field, a permanent magnet 11 which is oblong in cross section is buried along an axis q in radial direction, and besides the axial length of the permanent magnet 11 is shortened to widen the space between one end of that permanent magnet 11 and the periphery of the rotor 10 on one hand and to narrow the space between the other end of the permanent magnet 11 and a shaft. Moreover, the permanent magnets 11 are arranged at regular intervals by the number of poles concerned in circumferential direction, and the long side of the rectangle in cross section of the permanent magnet 11 is made a magnetic pole. Besides, the sides of the faces opposed to each other on the long sides of adjacent permanent magnets 11 are magnetized in the same poles, and a hole 12 of flux barrier extended from one end of the permanent magnet to the peripheral side is made between one end of the permanent magnet 11 and the periphery of the rotor 10.
