PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain the degree information on eye examination lens, and at the same time to prevent a mistake caused by manual work by detecting identification information on the degree of a lens being given in advance for each eye examination lens, and by recognizing the degree of eye examination by the eye examination lens being arranged in a frame for the eye examination based on the detection result for outputting. SOLUTION: A device 100 for reading the degree of a lens is equipped with a camera part 30, and a placing rest 34 for placing an inspection frame 1 at a specific position. A guide part 35 is provided on the placing rest 34, and the lower part of the rim of the inspection frame 1 coincides with the guide part 35, thus positioning the inspection frame 1 at specific distance while the inspection frame 1 faces the camera part 30. A trial lens being arranged in left and right rims 2L and 2R of the inspection frame 1 is simultaneously subjected to image pickup by a CCD camera 31, and the obtained image is stored into a memory 43. A control part 40 extracts each degree display being given to a retention thumb based on the pickup image and the mark of a pillar surface shaft, and obtains degree information on the trial lens being arranged in the inspection frame 1 according to the extracted information.
