PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control braking force in multisteps without removing a side board of a double bearing reel. SOLUTION: This braking device is equipped with a spool 4, a braking ring body 8 and braking bodies 7a to 7f provided in a spool so as to be able to come into contact with the braking ring body by rotation centrifugal force of the spool. A cam plate 9 nipping the braking bodies 7a to 7f together with the spool 4 is provided and a cam plate is engaged with the braking bodies 7a to 7f to form cams 28 to 33 for regulating oscillating amount of the braking bodies to the braking ring bodies. The cam plate is provided so as to enable rotation positioning to the spool so that the cam and the braking bodies can be selected and engaged and a material bringing into contact with the cam in the braking bodies is kept so as not to come into contact with the braking ring bodies thereby.
