PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light-receiving element less deteriorated in the characteristics of the element due to a crack, a break or the like in the region in the vicinity of the edge of the substrate of the element in the forming process of the element or in the practical use of the element. SOLUTION: A semiconductor light-receiving element formed so as to suppress stray light with a light-shielding metal film is provided with an ohmic electrode 35 for electrically connecting the metal film with a window layer. The electrode 35 is provided in contact with the window layer on a substrate 13 and in such a way as to encircle a p+ diffused region 21. Hereby, even though a crack is generated in a region 39 in the vicinity of the edge of the substrate, the crack does hardly spread to the inside of the electrode 35.
