摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an explosion proof structure of a cylindrical battery unlikely to actuate malfunctions, even when the battery is stored in a high temperature environment over a long period of time. SOLUTION: A seal 30, fixed to an open part 10a of a metal can 10 of a battery via a gasket 20, is composed of a terminal plate 31 having a cylindrical projection in the center, a resin packing 32 having a through-hole 32a in the center, a diaphragm 33, and a disc-shaped metal plate 34. The inside diameter of the central through-hole 32a is set to 50-80% of that of the cylindrical projection 31a, and the swelling degree of the diaphragm 33 is adjusted, when the internal pressure of the battery has resin. Accordingly, when the internal pressure attains a prescribed level, the diaphragm 33 makes contact with a cutter blade 31c to be ruptured, while there is no risk of the diaphragm 33 touching the blade 31c, even if the battery is stored in an environment with 70-80 deg.C over a long period of time.
