<p>A security barrier employs a coupling (14) comprising a central collar (19) and opposed pipe sleeves (20) recessed at their ends (21) to receive pipes, the pipes being held in place by grub screws or otherwise secured. The central sleeve (19) is secured to the respective pipe sleeves by hinge pin couplings (22 and 23). Each pipe sleeve includes an annular flange (24) and a spring (25) is inserted between the flanges (24) so that spring (25) is held captive within the coupling. The coupling enables controlled deflection of the pipes constrained by the hinges. It will be appreciated that the coupling can be used to retrofit fences with a deflectable end section in the same plane, therefore there is no need to replace the fence.</p> |
