PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desired position and injection angle based on a combustion chamber by a method wherein a space to move aside a pressed and deformed elastic airtight holding member is formed between a fuel injection nozzle and a cylindrical nozzle spacer when the fuel injection nozzle is mounted on an engine head. SOLUTION: When an injection nozzle 1 is situated at an engine head 2, the lower end part of a protector 4 is forced into contact with the seat 20 of an engine head 2. Thereafter, a support plate 5 is brought into contact with the upper end part 1d of the injection nozzle 1 from above, studs 6a and 6b are inserted in the through-holes 5a and 5b of the support plate 5 and threadedly engaged with screw holes 2a and 2b. Consecutively, nuts 21 and 22 are threadedly engaged with the respective studs 6a and 6b and the nuts 21 and 22 are fastened until the under surface of a spacer 3 is brought into contact with the seat 9 of the engine head 2. This operation presses and deforms the protector 4 and causes it to enter an annular groove 11 for movement aside.
