PURPOSE: To extremely easily exchange a cathode tube and to prevent the strength of a base chassis from being weakened even when the exchanging work of the cathode tube is facilitated. CONSTITUTION: This back light device is provided with a light transmission plate 3 whose front surface side is provided with a diffusion plate 1 and whose back surface side is provided with a reflector, the cathode tube 4 arranged at the side part of at least one end of the plate 3 and the base chassis 5 housing the plate 3 and the tube 4 and constituted so that light made incident on the plate 3 from the tube 4 is reflected on the reflector, diffused by the plate 1 and emitted. Besides, a light source holder 6 provided with a holding projection 14 for holding the tube 4 is axially supported so as to be freely turned with respect to the chassis 5. |
