PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To collect a correct toll from a passing vehicle by an ETC system adaptively to the replacement of an on-vehicle unit. SOLUTION: The on-vehicle unit of this ETC system has a memory stored with a vehicle number, etc., for automatic toll collection at a toll gate of a toll road and is mounted on an ETC vehicle 1 fitted with an IC licence number place 2 in which a chip stored with the vehicle number, etc., is embedded. A transmitter 3 receives data on the vehicle number, etc., obtained from the IC license number plate 2 through a cable 5 and a CPU decides that automatic toll collection from the vehicle by confirming that the vehicle number of this IC license plate number 2 matches the vehicle number read out of the memory. |
