POINTING DEVICE USING TWO LINEAR SENSORS AND FINGERPRINT FOR GENERATING DISPLACEMENT SIGNAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointing device of high operability. SOLUTION: This device is composed of a casing, linear sensors 50 and 52 mutually parallel provided at the upper part of the casing for detecting a linear image and generating corresponding first and second linear image signals and an image processing circuit 54 provided inside the casing for receiving and processing the first and second linear image signals generated by two linear sensors. When passing the image through an image input device along a prescribed direction, each of the first and second linear sensors generates serial linear image signals, the image processing circuit records each of two serial linear image signals, calculates the displacement of the image on the basis of the two serial linear image signals and generates a displacement signal on the basis of the two serial linear image signals.
