SOLUTION: A correcting parameter is set in a state in which contours of images on a CRT screen are the most easy-to-see in a setting circuit 2 in a state in which black characters are displayed in a white background. In this case, when an arithmetic means 51 judges that the screen displays black characters in the white background, the contour correcting device maintains the state of the setting circuit 2. When it judges that the screen is changed over to a state where the screen displays white characters in a dark background, a contour correcting circuit 1 obtains optimum contours in real time by correcting the correcting parameter of the setting circuit 2.
