<p>A thermoplastic resin foam which comprises a thermoplastic resin and a phyllosilicate and in which cells and the phyllosilicate are evenly and finely dispersed. A composite comprising 100 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin and 0.1 to 50 parts by weight of a phyllosilicate in which each phyllosilicate particle contains an expandable gas or heat decomposition type foaming agent interposed between sheets thereof is treated so as to expand the gas or thermally decompose the foaming agent to thereby form cells (6). Thus, a thermoplastic resin foam is obtained in which the phyllosilicate has an average sheet-to-sheet distance, as determined by X-ray diffractometry, of 60 Å or longer.</p> |
