PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save labor and time for maintenance and to demonstrate the same function even if the required atm. of a porous ceramic composite for the same sewage load is decreased by arranging string-shaped contact materials closely at the upper part of the composite and its water discharge area. SOLUTION: A main treatment-cylinder reactor consists of an inner cylinder bottom 1, an inner cylinder 2 and an outer cylinder 3 and is connected to a hose receiver 12 also used as a weight through a chain. The entire reactor is held by a float 10 through a float presser rope 11 with the upper face almost flush with the water surface. Water is supplied to the hose receiver 12 by a submerged pump, air is sent to the inner-cylinder bottom 1 from a small-sized blower, and water is sucked into the bottom from the side face or bottom face. The inner cylinder 2 is packed with a porous ceramic composite 5. A fixed amt. of a string-shaped material 6 is arranged from the upper part of the inner cylinder 2 through the outer cylinder 3, sewage is air-lifted from the bottom of the inner cylinder 2 to the upper part, introduced into the outer cylinder 3 along a guide, purified and discharged in direction of the arrow.
