PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unnecessitate a synchronizing device for obtaining synchronization with a silver salt camera by providing a transfer stop means for instructing that transfer to a transfer part is not executed by means of a prescribed signal. SOLUTION: A photographing start signal 12 is inputted to a vertical transfer stop signal generating means 17 in a video camera 5 and a period when the signal 12 is generated is synchronized with the timing when the signal electric charge of CCD is transferred from an image pickup part to the transfer part. That is, in the case of superimposition on a vertical transfer signal, the vertical transfer stop signal 18 from the means 17 is inputted to a CCD driving circuit 11 so that the transfer operation of the signal electric charge of an imaging element is temporarily stopped. By the stop, the image of a strobe light emitting period is stored and held in a CCD imaging element 5 and transferred to a vertical transfer line by vertical transfer: F1. Then a video signal 14 is outputted by an operation being the same as that of a conventional video camera.
