PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production process for fine-grainy aluminum hydroxide, which involves forming seed for the crystallization of fine-grainy aluminum hydroxide without using any dispersion device such as ultrasonic-wave irradiation device when or after the seed is prepared, and adding the seed thus formed to a sodium aluminate solution. SOLUTION: This production process comprises adding seed to a sodium aluminate solution and thereafter crystallizing fine-grainy aluminum hydroxide from the resulting liquid containing the seed, wherein as the seed, an alumina gel formed by mixing a sodium aluminate solution with an aluminum sulfate solution in a molar ratio of (the amount of sodium aluminate, expressed in terms of Na2O):(the amount of aluminum sulfate, expressed in terms of SO42-) of 1:0.4 to 0.6.
