PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boosting AC-DC converter with a relatively simple structure, which is capable of reducing power loss. SOLUTION: A main bridge-type rectifying circuit is formed, which consists of first to sixth main diodes D1-D6. First to sixth main switches Q1-Q6 and first to sixth snubber capacitors C1-C6 are parallel-connected to the first to sixth main diodes D1-D6. AC input terminals P1, P2, P3 are connected to first to third AC terminals 1a-1c via the first to third boosting reactors L1-L3. The series circuit of first and second smoothing capacitors Ca, Cb are connected between a pair of DC output terminals of a switch rectifying circuit 2. An auxiliary three-phase bridge-type diode rectifying circuit 5, auxiliary reactors La, Lb, and auxiliary switches Qa, Qb are connected between the AC input terminals P1, P2, P3 of the switching rectifying circuit 2 and the interconnecting points P4 of the first and second smoothing capacitors Ca, Cb.
