摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which fluctuation in the scanning speed of a carriage is suppressed as compared with a conventional one and identical speed control can be applied to both going stroke and returning stroke while reducing the manufacturing cost and the effect of mist. SOLUTION: A carriage scanning means for moving the carriage 31 of an imaging apparatus in the direction intersecting the print medium carrying direction of a medium carrying means comprises an ultrasonic motor fixed to the carriage 31, a drive pulley 37 coupled with the ultrasonic motor, and a flexible coupling body 38 stretched along the moving direction of the carriage 31 and wound one or more turn around the drive pulley 37 while being secured integrally, at the central part thereof, to the outer circumference of the drive pulley 37. When the ultrasonic motor is operated to turn the drive pulley 37, winding position of the coupling body 38 with respect to the drive pulley 37 is shifted and the carriage 31 is moved for scanning.
