PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To instantaneously shut off the supply of power only to a main motor and let a user recognize an abnormality easily without impairing ease of use when the abnormality occurs in a control means for driving the main motor. SOLUTION: A motor switch 42 for supplying and shutting off power supply to a main motor 7 is provided separately from a power supply switch 21 for supplying and shutting off power supply to the whole control means including a main motor control means and a clutch change-over device control means. When either of a TRIAC 38 for driving the main motor 7 in the forward direction and a TRIAC 39 for driving it in the reverse direction is detected to be abnormal, an operation control part 34 turns off the motor switch 42 to shut off the supply of power to the main motor 7, stops a washing machine, and displays a stop condition in a display device 2.
