PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject tensioner intended for diminishing the load on a terry motion device in moving a ground warp tension roll and for preventing the damage of a section involved in applying tension to a ground warp. SOLUTION: This tensioner 1 which has such a mechanism as to move a ground warp tension roll 4 back and forth by the action of a terry motion device 16, has a pair of left and right 1st rocking levers 43 rotatably supporting the tension roll 4 and linked to the terry motion device 16, a pair of left and right 2nd rocking levers 45 swingably supported on left and right frames 17, respectively, and revolvably linked to the 1st rocking levers 43, and a tensioning means 48 having the function to apply urging force to the 2nd rocking levers 45 so as to revolve them and press a ground warp 2 via the tension roll 4.
