PURPOSE: A method for welding an explosion-proof band of a cathode ray tube is provided to avoid mote in welding a joint of the explosion-proof band and enhance tension and stress of the joint. CONSTITUTION: To weld an explosion-proof band of a cathode ray tube, both joint ends(11a,11b) of the explosion-proof band are laid overlapping each other. The adhesion sides of the both joint ends(11a,11b) have protrusions(12). For example, there are protrusions(12) on the top of the lower joint end(11b). The joint ends(11a,11b) are projection-welded by anode electrodes(3a,3b). The anode electrodes(3a,3b) are electrically coupled to a transformer(2). After attaching the anode electrodes(3a,3b) on the both joint ends(11a,11b) and applying a current, the joint ends(11a,11b) are heated by their own material resistance. The heated joint ends(11a,11b) are pressed and adhered to each other. The electrodes(3a,3b) have rectangular cross sections to sufficiently press the joint ends(11a,11b).
