PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device capable of preventing reproduced data from being interrupted without complicating the mechanism, at the time when the optical disk of a PTP(parallel track path) system is read out continuously from a 1st layer to a 2nd layer by a CLV(constant linear velocity) system. SOLUTION: The read-out is started from the inner peripheral part of the 1st layer of the optical disk 1, and when a pickup 4 comes nearer to the end position of the 1st layer, the read-in of the data is continued by increasing the rotating speed of the motor 2. That is, during the time till the pickup comes near the end position of the 1st layer, the read-in is performed while gradually reducing the number of rotation of the motor 2, since the read-in is performed by the CLV system, i.e., the constant linear velocity, and when it comes near the end position of the 1st layer, the read-in is performed inversely by increasing the number of rotation nearly up to that at the time of reading the inner peripheral part. When the data of the 1st layer are all read in, the pickup 4 is seeked to the top of the 2nd layer, then the data of the 2nd layer are read in.
