The intake system has air collection chambers (1,2) and cylinder intake pipes (4). Instead of opening directly into the first collection chamber, each pipe is directly connected to an intermediate intake pipe (6). The intermediate pipe is functionally independent of the first collection chamber, and is connected to the second collection chamber only. A pipe connection (10) is located between the two chambers, and the ambient air taken in by the engine is fed into the second chamber.
