PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking device for a door capable of locking a door automatically on closing the door, and unlocking the door automatically on operating to open the door. SOLUTION: A trigger bolt 2 wherein a tip end part always projects horizontally by the restoring force of a spring 21 is fitted into a case 1 mounted on a lower end of a door by digging out or face fitting. A locking member 4 for holding a rising position at the time of projecting the trigger bolt 2 and for descending by the restoring force of the spring 21 at the time of retreating the trigger bolt 2 is provided in the case. A locking rod 33 for fittingly engaging with a fitting hole of a bracket 4 and for pushing up to the rising position of the locking member 3 by the action of a taper face 43 formed on the bracket 4 is provided on a lower end part of the locking member 3.
