PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve diagnostic throughput by eliminating the troublesome operation of switching scanning condition of ultrasonic waves before and after positioning. SOLUTION: The apparatus automatically switches scanning condition of ultrasonic waves before and after positioning. It comprises: A detector 74 that detects the completion of positioning; a sample number setting portion 73 that controls ultrasonic scanning condition to provide more images than that used for positioning according to the signal for completion of positioning from the detector 74; and a CPU 71. Thus the completion of positioning is automatically detected and the scanning condition is automatically switched, thus to eliminate complication of the operators and to lead to improvement of the diagnostic throughput.
