PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for monitoring a remote system are provided to monitor a state of system failure under window environment of a PC(Personal Computer) by using an NFS(Network File System) of UNIX. CONSTITUTION: A local management system is connected with a multitude of management object systems by TCP/IP. The local management system includes a failure GUI(Graphic User Interface) screen, a system message screen, and a control function screen. A multitude of remote management systems are connected with the local management system by RS-232. The remote management systems are connected with the management object system by the TCP/IP. The remote management systems are formed with a failure GUI screen, a system message screen, and a control function screen. A PC(Personal Computer) is used generally as the remote management system.
