<p>An apparatus for monitoring physiological data generated by sensors (20) disposed on or in a patient. The apparatus includes a patch (40) that is adhesively attached to the patient. A first surface of the patch (40) carries an interface operable to receive data signals generated by the sensors (20) via leads (30); a data processor operable to format data signals received from the interface into frames of data which include a transmitter identifier unique to the apparatus; and a transmitter operable to broadcast the frames to a portable communications module (50). The portable communications module (50) receives the frames of data and is operable to transmit physiological and location data to a central monitoring station (60) while establishing a voice communications link between the central monitoring station (60) and a patient.</p> |
