PURPOSE: An asymmetric digital subscriber line(ADSL) modem having a built-in plain old telephone service(POTS) splitter, is provided to use an existing telephone line for connection without an additional POTS splitter and wiring. CONSTITUTION: Signals inputted through interface with a telephone office network are supplied to a discrete multi tone(DMT) transceiver(375), after passing a 116kHz high pass filter(HPF,374) of an asymmetric digital subscriber line(ADSL) analog processor and a 1.1MHz low pass filter(LPF). A plain old telephone service(POTS) splitter(37) connects the signals to a telephone set, after passing a 4KHz LPF. The POTS splitter(37) is connected to a first RJ11 jack(17a) through an unshielded twisted pair line after passing six conductor cords. An RJ11 jack of the telephone set is connected to a second RJ11 jack(17b) through a telephone connection line by passing the six connector cords.
