PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an image transfer system for outputting image data encoded by using the encoding method used in facsimile equipment connected to a network to terminal equipment on the same network. SOLUTION: When terminal equipment informs facsimile equipment of an HTML document requesting acquisition by actuating a WWW browser and a request analyzing section 3 detects the acquiring request via an HTTP request receiving section 2, an HTML transmitting section 4 transmits an HTML document to the terminal equipment. The terminal equipment finds the request when the HTML document containing a decoding program acquiring request is displayed, and issues the decoding program acquiring request. When the analyzing section 3 detects the acquiring request, a program transmitting section 6 transmits a decoding program. In the decoding program, a description requesting image data is made, and in response to the request, an image data acquiring request is issued. When the analyzing section 3 detects the request, an image data transmitting section 7 acquires image data stored in an image storing section 8 and transmits the data. Upon receiving the image data, the terminal equipment decodes the data, converts the data into a displayable form, and displays the data.
