摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a discharge tube to display a highly luminous and highly accurate picture. SOLUTION: In this driving method, when a 4-electrode structure discharge tube for display, which is provided with two pairs of electrodes of a pair of electrodes for display in which respective pixels are covered with a dielectric layer and a pair of electrodes for address and in which at least one address electrode is covered with the dielectric layer is driven and at the time of performing assigning intensity levels by using plural subframes into which one picture signal frame is divided in time, a picture is displayed by addressing the difference of picture information of consecutive two subframes and by moving the discharge on either of the first address electrodes and the electrodes for display to the discharge between the electrodes for display by using wall electric charges formed on the first address electrodes in a preceding subframe.
