The support has several oblong bending spring elements (4) held together in parallel by a longitudinal support (6) set across same. The longitudinal support is deformable in one direction by an adjustor (12, 16, 18) on the support. The spring element can be movable in the said direction in the area of the longitudinal support so that the shape of the padded backrest support is changed. The longitudinal support can be pretensioned to produce a resetting force when deformed. The adjustor has a setting element (12) which can be tensioned against the longitudinal support to deform same.
