PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain low viscosity of paint and high dispersibility of magnetic powder of a magnetic paint with which carbon black is blended in high blending ratio. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium has a magnetic layer formed on a non-magnetic supporting body by applying a magnetic material which is prepared by dispersing ferromagnetic powder into a bonding agent the component of which comprises: (a) a polyester polyol which has a molecular weight of 2,000 or below and an acid component 90 mol.% of which consists of an aromatic or aliphatic dibasic acid; (b) a high molecular polyol different from (a); (c) an organic diisocyanate and (d) optionally a compound having a molecular weight of 500 or below and reactivity with an isocyanate group and further contains >=5 wt.% carbon black particles to the ferromagnetic powder.
