<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To melt refuse without requiring an extra heater as a heat source for melting the refuse by throwing the refuse into molten steel slag and melting the refuse with the heat of the steel slag. SOLUTION: Iron ore, limestone and coke are thrown into a blast furnace and hot air of about 1200 deg.C is blown into the blast furnace thus burning the cokes and melting the iron ore. Rock components and impurities contained in the iron ore and coke are combined with the limestone and removed to produce cast iron and steel slag called blast furnace slag separately. The steel slag is then transferred from the blast furnace to a rotary kiln into which composite refuse mixing various kinds of waste plastic, metal refuse, woods, papers, and the like, is thrown in. The composite refuse is melted with heat of the steel slag and the molten refuse is solidified and crushed granularly by means of a water crush conveyor.</p> |
