SYNCHRONOUS PSEUDO NOISE(PN) CODE APPARATUS AND METHOD USING THE PHASE OFFSET OF PN CODE

PURPOSE: A synchroning method and apparatus for pseudo noise(pn) code using phase offset of pn code are provided to reduce the initial synchronization time by using phase offset of the pseudo noise code in a cellular telephone system. CONSTITUTION: To reduce the initial synchronization time in the cellular telephone system, the receiver has the following steps: receiving the spread spectrum(S200); calculating phase offset of the received pseudo noise code(S210); computing the syndrome(S260); checking whether the syndrome is zero based on the phase offset and the syndrome(S220); performing the search mode(S240); and verifying the synchronization(S250). In the checking process, if syndrome is not zero then the apparatus receives the spread spectrum again, otherwise the apparatus initializes the shift register of the pseudo noise code generator by using the phase offset(S230). The method decreases the initial synchronization time to synchronize the phases of the signals transmitted from the base station and the receiver.
