PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent light from transmitting through a part of a data line according to the rubbing direction of an alignment film. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is equipped with a thin film transistor array substrate, a color filter substrate and a liquid crystal 280 injected and sealed between the thin film transistor array substrate and the color filter substrate. The thin film transistor array substrate is equipped with a thin film transistor TFT having a gate line 100, a data line 200 crossing with the gate line as insulated from that, a gate electrode 140 branched and projected from the gate line in the crossing part of the gate line and data line, and a drain electrode 180 separated from and facing a source electrode 160 connected to the data line all formed on a first transparent substrate, with a protective film having a contact hole to expose a part of the drain electrode, and a pixel electrode 300 formed on the protective film and connected to the drain electrode through the contact hole to partly overlap the data line. The color filter substrate has a black matrix 290, color filters R, G and a common electrode formed on a second transistor substrate. In this device, the black matrix 290 is asymmetrically overlaps with the data line. |
