A travelling service unit (16) has a controller (24) with a first program to produce optimum yarn properties when repairing an end break. It has a second program to ensure maximum reliability when starting spinning on a new bobbin with an auxiliary yarn, e.g. by altering the spinning speed, sliver feed, yarn backwards feed to produce a thicker section.
