APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR GENERATING EFM SIGNAL FOR OPTICAL DISK REPRODUCING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for generating an EFM signal for an optical disk reproducing system are provided for converting a RF(Radio Frequency) signal into an EFM(Eight to Fourteen Modulation) signal. CONSTITUTION: An EFM signal generation apparatus for an optical disk reproducing system includes a data slicing unit(10), a digital sum value(DSV) computation unit(12), a selection signal generation unit(14), and an EFM flag generation unit(16). In the optical disk reproducing system, an optical pick-up(not shown) scans light to an optical disk and picks up the light reflected by the optical disk. The RF amplifier(not shown) amplifies light and outputs as a signal. The data slicing unit(10) corrects an asymmetric state of an RF signal inputted from the RF amplifier through an input terminal(IN1) and generates a first slice reference level.
