PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small electro-optical conversion device which is manufac tured simply, wherein an electric signal of high frequency of one GHz or higher is converted into an optical signal by making good use of the characteristics of a surface emitting laser, and the laser is driven with a signal from a bipolar transistor. SOLUTION: An optical element 7 is directly bonded over coaxial connector center conductors 11 and 14 and further on an axis thereof. An optical fiber 25 that is coupled optical to the optical element 7 is placed over the axis of the center conductor. A mounting part of the optical element 7 is hermetically sealed in an inert gas atmosphere via a cap 9. The optical element 7 is an optical element on an n-type substrate. The optical element 7 is as an example, a surface emitting laser. |
