PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to erase a picture photographed in mistake with a simple operation after confirming it in the case of photographing and to go to photographing of a succeeding picture immediately. SOLUTION: The image pickup device is provided with an optical lens system 11 and a CCD 12 that photograph a picture, a co-processor 15 and a JPEG processing section 17 that apply a prescribed process to the obtained picture, a flash memory 18 that records the picture after the processing, a key entry section 20 that instructs the flash memory 18 to stop picture recording, and a CPU 16 that stops recording of the picture to the flash memory 18 when the instruction by this key entry section 20 is made before the end of the picture recording to the flash memory 18.
