PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press roll capable of being installed in a narrow space and giving a nip pressure of sufficiently large size. SOLUTION: A press roll is composed of a plurality of section rolls 3 arranged in series on a support beam 2, a coupling 14 to couple the section rolls 3 with one another, and a motor to transmit the rotational power to one of the section rolls 3. The arrangement further includes minor diameter coupling shafts 11 formed at the ends of each section roll 3, a pair of bearings 21 fitted on the coupling shafts 11, and a minor diameter supporting cylinder 22 supported by the two bearings 21 and having a smaller diameter than the rolls, wherein the cylinder 22 is furnished in the center with a ring-shaped supporting part 23 having a diameter some smaller than the outside diameter of the rolls, and part of the ring-shaped supporting part 23 is attached to the support beam 2 through a bracket 5.
