PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire for a passenger car which is improved in high speed durability and high frequency road noise characteristics without lowering the high speed durability and comfortableness on a laden car caused by moist heat deterioration when a steel cord is used as a reinforcing cord of a belt cover layer instead of a conventional organic fiber cord. SOLUTION: This pneumatic radial tire which has a belt layer 5 buried in an outer circumference side of a carcass layer 2 in a tread part 4 is provided with a belt cover layer 6 wherein a reinforcing cord composed of a steel cord s is placed in an outer circumference side of the belt layer 5 such that an inclination angle becomes 5 deg. or less to a circumferential direction of the tire, and the steel cord s is made to be a single twisted structure by twisting two wires f, f which have a diameter of 0.25 mm or less.
