PURPOSE: A method for monitoring/managing states of a telecommunication management network(TMN) agent is provided to efficiently operate the agent by supplying a monitoring processor for periodically examining the states of the agent and states of a communication line to perform a confirmation procedure for abnormal states of equipment, and for completing executions when the abnormal states continue after a regular time. CONSTITUTION: A method for monitoring/managing states of a telecommunication management network(TMN) agent, comprises the steps of: testing whether a communication line between the agent and equipment is normally operated, by a manager processor; if not, periodically examining states of the communication line; if the states are normal, operating the agent; if an abnormal situation is detected while examining the states of the communication line, deciding whether the abnormal situation is from the agent or from a network element; and if the abnormal situation is from the agent, continuing executions of the agent.
