PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for displaying an on screen are provided commonly to use an on screen processing part of a digital satellite broadcasting receiving set without an OSD memory. CONSTITUTION: A satellite broadcasting receiving part is comprised of a tuning part(100) selectively receiving a satellite broadcasting, a micro-computer(101), a decoder/multiplexer(102), a video memory(103) storing a video signal for decoding, an on screen memory(104), a memory controller(105) controlling the video and the on screen memory(103,104), and a video encoder(106) outputting a reference signal and converting digital type data inputting into analog type data so as to output. A TV receiving part(2) includes a synchronizing switching part(107) outputting a reference signal the decoder, a TV controller(108) detecting an OSD position and outputs an OSD data, a video/deflection controller(109), an A/V switch(110) for selecting one of among TV signals and external input signal, and a picture set(111).
