PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an unreasonable stress applied to an electrode body of a battery by a protective element, by making a battery pack thin and bringing the protection element close to the surface of the battery. SOLUTION: This protection element is equipped with a case 3 in contact with the surface of a battery and a temperature sensitive part built in the case 3 to control a current passing through the battery by the battery temperature or to output a signal to control the current passing through the battery. The case 3 of the protective element 1 is formed slender extending in the longitudinal direction of the battery, and is provided with a longitudinal groove 6 on the contact surface in contact with the surface of the battery. The surface of the battery is placed in the groove 6 in order to bring the case 3 into contact with the surface of the battery.
