METHOD FOR APPENDING INFORMATION OF COMPRESSED MOVING PICTURE AND MOVING PICTURE COMPRESSOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relieve a load on computer processing required for retrieval of similar pictures by using a vector information transmission handling process between a moving picture compression processing process and a compressed moving picture uncompression processing process so as to reduce a load of re-compression in the case of re-compressing uncompressed picture to append information to a compressed moving picture. SOLUTION: A compressed moving picture uncompression means 1 of a moving picture compressor consists of an in-block uncompression section 10 and an inter-block uncompression section 20, and a moving picture compression means 2 consists of an inter-block compression section 30 and an in-block compression section 40. The inter-block compression section 30 consists of a similar block retrieval section 31 and a retrieval area setting section 32. A motion vector information delivery means 50 directly delivers a motion vector 102 of an input compressed moving picture data 100 to the retrieval area setting section 32 in the inter-block compression section 30. The retrieval area setting section 32 sets an area in which most similar block picture information based on the motion vector 102.
