PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make smooth the operation by an arrangement wherein switching is made between normal scroll and jump scroll from which the normal scroll is decimated depending on the speed or amount of input operation when the screen of a display means is scrolled. SOLUTION: When the CPU 40 in a central processor 4 is started according to a navigation program, the map on the periphery of current position is displayed by a current position detector 2. When a goal is set and the course from the current position is determined, the course to the goal is displayed and voice guide is provided. When Japanese syllabary input processing is started by operating a jog dial 11, a Japanese syllabary input pallet is displayed at first in Japanese syllabary mode and a decision is made whether the rotational speed of the jog dial 11 exceeds a standard speed or not. An inputted character is displayed in an input area by jump scroll processing if the standard speed is exceeded, otherwise it is displayed by normal scroll processing. Retrieval is started by an input character row when completion of input is designated. Since only limited characters are displayed while being emphasized, visibility of layout can be enhanced. |
