PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shape control method precisely controlling a crowning shape even if crowning is done over full length of a roller and a device thereof. SOLUTION: A measured roller 1 is held with a pair of basic pieces 6, 7 in an axial direction to be placed on a fixture body 8, A shape of a generating line of a roller 1 external form including a neighborhood part of the pieces 6, 7 is measured with sensing pin 10. Positions of end faces of the pieces 6, 7 are determined by a central point computing means 20 from the shape of the generating line, and then a central point 0 in the axial direction of the shape of the generating line of the rover 1 external form is determined from the positions of the faces 6, 7. A drop amount computing means 21 determines a drop amount in a radial direction at a predetermined position in the axial direction of the shape of the generating line of the roller 1 external form. A curvature computing means 22 computes a curvature in any range of the shape of the generating line with the central point 0 as a reference. A judging means 23 displays a space between allowable difference lines of the shape of the generating lines and a measured line that are overlapped on a display device 18.
