PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for initializing a phase change type optical disk realizing an optical system for initializing a recording layer by irradiating the recording layer with plural light beams. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an objective lens 13 to which a first optical beam a from a first semiconductor laser 2 and a second optical beam b from a second semiconductor laser are made incident for converging the incident first light beam (a) and second light beam b to a recording layer on a recording track T of a phase change type optical disk D. The objective lens 13 is arranged so that an optical axis 13a can almost orthogonally cross the phase change type optical lens D. Also, this device is provided with an actuator 15 for a focus servo for moving the objective lens 13 to the direction of the optical axis 13a for allowing the objective lens 13 to converge the first light beam (a) and the second beam b in a prescribed size on the recording layer.
